The Story Behind the Art: Inspiration for Oceara - What Remains Created for Salem's 400th anniversary celebration, What Remains is part of my Permission to Linger series. Working in oil on canvas, I wanted to see how far I could move toward abstraction without losing the emotion of a place. The soft blues, weathered neutrals, and shifting light began to feel like a misty afternoon by the ocean in Salem—where sea, sky, and memory seem to blur into one another. What remains isn't necessarily the place itself, but the feeling of having been there.
